Construction of a new rail yard to provide increased on-dock rail access to incoming cargo, increasing efficiency and reducing emissions from truck traffic. The $110 million project relocates the Harbor Port Line from its current berth, with a scope of work that includes support tracks for container terminals, double-track connections to the Alameda Corridor and national rail network, a new office building (designed for LEED certification), maintenance buildings, and underground electrical, sewage and water utilities.

This estimate covered the cost of improvements to Berths S102-S110, North and South Intermodal Rail Yards. Upgrading these rail yards was an important component of the Port's Pier S Marine Terminal Development Project, which developed a vacant 160-acre parcel into a new cargo terminal with rail access.
